Services Available at our Center

24/7 Hotline

Our 24 Hour Crisis Line is answered by trained staff and volunteers; the crisis line answers the need for short-term crisis counseling to both recent and past survivors of rape as well as their family and friends who are supporting the victim. Hotline volunteers and staff provide support in time of crisis as well as information regarding resources at the Center and in the community for child and adult sexual abuse and assault survivors, their families, and significant others.  The hotline is anonymous and will always be answered regardless of when the call is made.

 

 

 

college paper Staff are available to assist survivors, significant others, and family members with information and referrals. They also act as a liaison with law enforcement officials during criminal investigations.  Center staff can provide survivors with information on the workings of the legal system, insight on testifying, and accompaniment during court proceedings if a case goes to court. At the time of crisis, trained volunteers and/or staff are available on call to meet survivors at their local medical center or the Family Protection Center to provide emotional support and information, during a medical examination (rape kit). 

 

 

 

Staff provides referrals for one-on-one, confidential counseling for child and adult survivors as well as their families, and significant others.

Prevention and Education

Text Box: Upon, request, Center staff provides in-service presentation and informational sessions on various topics surrounding sexual assault and violence for community members, civic groups, college classes, high school and elementary school students, businesses,  etc.  Education staff also provides educational groups for women, children and adolescents on sexual assault and violence. We also have a full time Spanish Speaking staff member who can translate all presentations.

Emergency Financial Assistance

Groceries, transportation assistance, hygiene products, clothing, and emergency shelter/housing is available to eligible victims of sexual assault (certain limitation apply).

Medical Accompaniments and Forensic Interviews

At the request of Law Enforcement, a trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (S.A.N.E.) will perform a forensic (evidence gathering) physical examination for any child or adult victim of sexual assault within 72 hours of assault.

At the request of Law Enforcement and the Department of Family & Children Services, trained Center staff conduct videotaped interviews with children.  These taped interviews may then be used in the investigation and prosecution process.
